The 13th Annual Meeting of the Japanese Society for Extracellular Vesicles (JSEV 2026) will be held from October 22 to 23, 2026, at JP Tower Hall & Conference, located adjacent to JR Tokyo Station.
This year’s meeting will be held in conjunction with APSEV 2026, organized by the Asia Pacific Society for Extracellular Vesicles. Building upon Japan’s pioneering achievements in extracellular vesicle (EV) research—from basic science to applied studies—we aim to send a strong message to the world about the future of EV research from Japan, as leading researchers across the Asia-Pacific region gather together. Accordingly, the joint conference theme is “Beyond Exosome.”
The program will focus on the boundless potential of EVs, sharing the latest findings from basic research to clinical applications, while also delving deeply into the many challenges currently faced in EV research.

The JSEV was established in 2014 to promote EV research in Japan, in response to the rapid global expansion of EV studies. Over the past 12 years, we have worked closely with international academic organizations such as ISEV, creating a platform for information sharing and collaboration among EV researchers.
Our society’s activities encompass a wide range of fields, emphasizing the importance of EVs across the diversity of life—from microorganisms and plants to higher organisms. We strive to promote innovation and the practical application of basic science, encouraging mutual exchange between academia and industry through discussions, collaborative projects, and the sharing of both academic insights and technological needs.

In 2023, Japan’s Pharmaceuticals and Medical Devices Agency (PMDA) released a report on therapeutic products utilizing extracellular vesicles, including exosomes. This milestone inspired us to further engage in active research, discussion, and information dissemination related to ensuring the safety and quality of EV-based medical applications.
However, as EV research is still a relatively young field, misinformation and misunderstanding remain issues. Recognizing this, our society aims to further advance Japan’s EV research, share its achievements globally, and promote a deeper understanding of quality management in EV applications.

Through this conference, we hope to work together with all participants to discover new seeds of innovation that transcend the framework of exosomes. We warmly welcome not only researchers and companies already active in the field, but also those who are newly entering the EV research community. We look forward to your participation and support in making this a highly fruitful and inspiring meeting.
